Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya (Tashan, Dhoom 3 and Thugs of Hindostan fame) and produced by Yash Raj Films, The Great Indian Family also stars Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Alka Amin, Sadiya Siddiqui and Bhuvan Arora among others in pivotal roles.
The family entertainer hit theatres yesterday (22 September 2023) and had a box office clash with Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s slice-of-life drama, Sukhee.

After the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Vicky Kaushal is back with another small-town story. However, the film is likely to suffer this time.
Seems like, TGIF collection is getting suffered due to the ongoing Jawan fever across the globe. According to reports, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer still remains the preferred movie choice for its third consecutive Friday.
As per early estimates by Sacnilk.com, The Great Indian Family raked in Rs 1.40 crores on its opening day at the box office. Reportedly, the film had an overall occupancy of 10.9% in theatres on Friday.
TGIF revolves around the story of Ved Vyas Tripathi aka Bhajan Kumar (played by Vicky) who comes from a conservative family of Pandits. He is a renowned devotional singer of a small town called Balrampur.
Everything was hunky dory until one day, a stranger came to their house and gave them a letter. Bhajan’s life take a dramatic turn when they all find out that he is actually a Muslim by birth.
