Ektaa Kapoor, along with her family and ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd., is gearing up to take strict legal action against individuals spreading false information about them.
In a statement issued by her lawyer, Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, Kapoor announced plans to file a ₹100 crore civil defamation lawsuit and initiate criminal proceedings.

Rizwan’s legal notice states that the rumors being spread about Ektaa Kapoor are fueled by “personal vested interests, hidden agendas, and criminal motives.” He pointed out that these claims are linked to a 2020 police complaint that had already been closed by the authorities. Despite this, he alleged that certain individuals are attempting to misuse the matter to tarnish Ektaa’s reputation and that of her brand.
The counsel further stated that certain individuals are “deliberately attempting to defame my clients and gain publicity at the expense of their name and reputation.” The statement also issues a warning that legal action will be taken against those spreading unverified information.

This development follows allegations made by Hindustani Bhau, also known as Vikas Pathak, who accused Ektaa Kapoor’s OTT platform, ALT Balaji, of allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers in 2020. His complaint also mentioned her parents, Sobha and Jeetendra Kapoor. According to PTI, based on his allegations, the court directed the police to investigate the criminal complaint filed against her. Under Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the court has requested a police report on the matter by May 9.
This isn’t the first time Ektaa Kapoor has faced legal scrutiny over content on her streaming platform. In 2024, an FIR was filed against her following allegations by Jabalpur BJP MLA Abhilash Pandey, who accused her of depicting “bold content involving children” in the web series Gandii Baat.
