Whether it’s ‘Dil Bechara’ (remake of The Fault In Our Stars) or Chachi 420 (remake of Mrs Doubtfire) we Indians love the desi flavour of our remakes.
Shows like Bigg Boss (adapted from Big Brother) or Khatron Ke Khiladi (from American series Fear Factor) prove that Indian adaptations have what it takes to make the audience tick!
Lionsgate globally is one of the largest show producers and has made great legacy shows like ‘Mad Men’, ‘Orange Is The New Black’ to name a few. Their first Indian production has gone on floors and we can’t keep calm!
This upcoming show is the Indian remake of the critically acclaimed, Golden Globe-nominated comedy-drama series ‘Casual’.
What Is The Show About?
Lara Dutta and Prateik Babbar will be headlining the Hindi remake, which has been adapted to be relatable to the Indian audience. Prateik will be seen as the bachelor brother while Lara plays his newly divorced sister who moves in with him after her marriage crumbles. She also happens to be a single mother. The show will revolve around how the siblings support each other and manage to raise her teenage daughter while navigating the crazy world of dating!
We can’t wait to watch Lara Dutta in this never-before-seen avatar and we wonder how the brother-sister dynamic with Prateik Babbar will play out onto the screen. Let’s see how the makers bring that special desi tadka to the acclaimed Hollywood show! Good news – the shooting has kickstarted.
Helmed by Hum Tum director Kunal Kohli, the Casual remake will stream on the Lionsgate Play app, which was launched in India in 2020. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play store, Apple app store and Amazon firestick.
