Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor are one of Bollywood’s evergreen couples, both onscreen and off-screen!
The duo had tied the knot on 22 January 1980, and today would have marked their 41st wedding anniversary.
Remembering her late husband, Neetu took to Instagram to share a sweet video montage celebrating their beautiful love story and years of togetherness. The couple are parents to two children – actor Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahani, who is a Delhi-based jewellery designer.
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor had co-starred in several movies – Kabhi Kabhie, Khel Khel Mein, Amar Akbar Anthony. From a deep friendship to 5 year-long courtship to marriage – their journey indeed was quite memorable. Of course, there were a few hurdles along the way, since a commitment-phobic Rishi Kapoor had bluntly told Neetu – “I’ll only date you, I’ll never get married to you.”
In his book Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, he confessed how he was caught off-guard about his own engagement. His sister Ritu Kapoor had been the one to push his relationship forward!
“We made headlines when I went to Delhi for an engagement in my sister’s family and came back to Mumbai with a ring on my own finger. I hadn’t a clue that Ritu had been plotting and planning.”
He had penned – “I was caught off-guard when my parents and close friends got Neetu and me to sit in a mandap meant for somebody else’s engagement and made us exchange rings.”
That’s quite a dramatic story, isn’t it?
However, their love saga still remains eternal. Rishi Kapoor, passed away on 30th April last year, after a 2-year battle with cancer. Neetu Kapoor can often be seen reminiscing about her beloved husband on Instagram.
