Rani Mukerji & Aditya Chopra’s Secret Love Story:
Jab they met…
Rani & Aditya met for the first time in Sampan restaurant after her debut movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat had been released. However, Rani doesn’t remember this. According to her, they first met when she was doing Karan Johar’s movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hain. Interesting fact: Did you know it was Aditya who approached Rani’s name to KJo for Tina’s role?
“I first met Adi socially when I was doing ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, through Karan. Though Adi tells me that after my first film ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat’, he has a very vivid memory of seeing me in Sampan restaurant.”
Where it all began
In 2009, Aditya Chopra got divorced from his first wife designer Payal Khanna. After that, Aditya fell for Rani Mukerji and started seeing her. Both of them were apparently going through a low phase in their respective lives and found comfort in each other’s company. Many people held Rani responsible for the problems in Aditya-Payal’s marriage, although they started dating after his divorce. However, after their marriage in 2014, Rani cleared the air and said:
“Contrary to all rumours, I started seeing him only when he was out of his divorce and was not my producer. I started seeing him at a point when I was not working with him as dating your producer was not my cup of tea.”
Rani ‘Chopra’…??
While both Rani & Aditya managed to keep their relationship a secret, it was Shatrughan Sinha who spilled the beans about their secret dating game. Back in 2013, at the unveiling of a statue of late filmmaker Yash Chopra, the veteran actor addressed Rani Mukerji as ‘Rani Chopra’.
“Pamela Chopra, Uday, Rani, and other family members… just now my wife said I missed out on Aditya Chopra. Jab maine Rani Chopra ka naam liya hai toh zaahir si baat hai ke Aditya ka bhi naam leta.”
Hush-Hush Bengali Wedding In Italy
Finally, after dating for few years, the couple got married in a private Bengali-styled wedding ceremony in Italy without letting anyone know except a few close friends and family members. The wedding, which was reportedly attended by 20 people, was quite a secret wedding and no pictures from the same surfaced on the internet. Till now, there’s no glimpse of Rani’s actual wedding look or any picture in which she can be seen posing with her husband.
When ADI(tya)-RA(ni) came into their lives
1 year after their marriage, Rani & Aditya became proud parents of a baby girl on December 9, 2015, whom they named Adira. Just like their private life, the couple has successfully managed to keep her away from the limelight.
“My husband, being a private person, wants Adira to have a normal upbringing. If they are going to the school, you are hoping your child is going to be tested equally like others. You don’t want them to have extra privileges or importance. You want them to grow up as normal people.”
