On Tuesday, NCB had raided the Versova Home of Deepika Padukone’s manager, Karishma Prakash.
Karishma was also summoned for questioning, however, she failed to appear before the agency. She has been booked for ‘small quantity’ under the NDPS Act.
During their raid, NCB had recovered 1.7 grams of hashish and 3 vials of CBD oil or cannabidiol, from Karishma’s residence.
Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, this contraband falls under the category of ‘small quantity’ and attracts a punishment of one-year rigorous imprisonment or fine up to Rs 10,000 or both.
As per TOI report, commenting on the seizures, advocate Ayaz Khan said, “CBD oil is legal and is easily available online. Secondly, of these three bottles of CBD, two bottles were empty. As far as seizure of 1.7 grams of hashish is concerned, it is a small quantity.’’
Indian Express quoted an official said, “Prakash did not appear before us today (Wednesday). We will wait for her to join the investigation.”
Sources said Karishma was consulting her lawyers to decide on the further course of action.
