While movies like Coolie No. 1, Durgavati and Chhalaang are sticking to the safer bet of OTT premiere, some movies are going to brave a theatrical release even in the pandemic.
With cinemas set to reopen at 50% seating capacity from October 15, the following movies are likely to kickstart the big screen mania:
Dil Bechara
As per Midday report, Dil Bechara which is Sushant Singh Rajput’s last project will be the first big release to hit the screens, as a tribute to the late actor.
A trade source revealed, “After the film’s phenomenal success on Disney+Hotstar, it was decided that whenever theatres open, the love story will be formally released on the big screen as a tribute to the actor.”
Indoo Ki Jawaani
The Kiara Advani starrer is expected to release in November. It is a coming-of-age comedy about Indoo Gupta, a feisty girl from Ghaziabad, and her misadventures with the dating apps!
The source added, “Indoo Ki Jawani was earlier slated to hit screens on October 2, but will now be an early November offering. It is subject to change depending on the reopening of cinemas in Maharashtra and other major centres, and the footfalls in the first few weeks.”
Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari
Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ is reportedly another November offering. It’s a social satire that deals with society’s obsession with astrology in the match-making process for marriages! However, it looks like it will have OTT premiere first.
“The makers of Manoj Bajpayee and Diljit Dosanjh’s Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari are considering a theatrical run in the third week of November in addition to its ZeePlex premiere,” said the source to Midday.
Meanwhile, another big offering is YRF’s Bunty Aur Babli 2, starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji as well as Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh. However, the dates are yet to be announced.
