Storyline

Introducing Bunty and Babli in a Bollywood crazed world is almost equal to introducing milk to a baby. So let’s go with what’s new in this sequel. Engineering graduates Kunal Singh (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Sonia Rawat (Sharvari Wagh) haven’t exactly seen a life full of roses and candies. After several fallouts, the couple take on the path of con and reincarnate themselves as Bunty aur Babli 2.0. But of course, when police inspector Jatayu Singh (Pankaj Tripathi) get wind of their crimes, he misunderstands the thefts to be done by the original Bunty and Babli, Vimmi and Rakesh Trivedi (Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan).

However, Vimmi and Rakesh take offence to this as not only are the crimes petty, but the two have also started a family together and are now leading an honest life. But to defend their names, they take on the challenge of catching the two culprits, Kunal and Sonia red-handed. One thing leads to another and both the Bunty’s and Babli’s find themselves on a hunt for each other, and it’s not just in India.

What do we think?

Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji made an excellent duo with fun chemistry between them. While Saif made sure his acting was nothing short of being on point, it was Rani’s acting that fell slightly short. Despite her character being naturally bubbly and very vocal, somewhere it felt a little overdone.

Siddhant Chaturvedi has proven to us once again that it’s not just MC Sher (from Gully Boy) who we can fall in love with, but practically any character he takes on. Sharvari Wagh, who made her Bollywood debut with this film, is also an interesting addition to the industry. Her acting stands out, especially where she’s a typical Gen Z replica.

Lastly, how can we forget Pankaj Tripathi? The actor has given us so much to look forward to that just his name being the part of a cast can bring a smile to our faces. Pankaj has naturally done an absolutely wonderful job and is probably the saving grace in many scenes.

Hit or Miss

You will find yourselves in a puddle of laughter at multiple parts of Bunty Aur Babli 2 but the film sadly lacks the oomph factor to keep you interested the entire 2 hours. However, it is not a bad first watch and is quite entertaining with a group. Hence, we conclude this review by giving it a HIT.
