The aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death included Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami starting off many debates pointing fingers at Bollywood in a bad light.
Enraged at that, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma lashed out at Goswami via Twitter in a series of tweets defending Bollywood. He then later on tweets about making a film on Arnab calling him “The News Prostitute”.
Ram Gopal Varma’s first tweet read, “Was shocked to see #ArnabGoswami talking about Bollywood in such a horrible way… He calls it the dirtiest industry ever with criminal connections, it’s full of Rapists, gangsters, sexual exploiters and what not?”
The furious tweets didn’t stop there, however. RGV made sure he let the Twitter world know of his wrath as he responded to Arnab’s comment on the unfortunate deaths of Divya Bharthi, Jiah khan, Sridevi and Sushant Singh Rajput. Goswami apparently made a statement for these previously mentioned cases saying the murderer is Bollywood!
RGV couldn’t take it anymore and so he tweeted, “It beats me in what dumb way #ArnabGoswami can combine the deaths of Divya Bharthi, Jiah khan, Sridevi and Sushant into one case and claim that the murderer is Bollywood..incidentally the 4 deaths happened over a span of nearly 25 years.”
Varma states that all the mentioned deaths were of different people under different circumstances, “And in all the four cases of Divya, Jiah, Sridevi and Sushant there were completely different people and circumstances…But in Arnab’s mind they are all one and had been killed by an entity called Bollywood.”
Taking a dig at other major Bollywood directors, RGV asks them why they weren’t reacting to what Goswami is saying. He tweets, “And why the hell are you guys #AdityaChopra , @karanjohar , @MaeshNBhatt @iamsrk @BeingSalmanKhan and so many others are so scared of the barking #ArnabGoswami that u are hiding under the tables of ur plush offices ???”
RGV also goes on to call Arnab ‘evil’ and that he shouts out malicious lies! He states, “Like Edmund burke said “For evil to triumph, it only takes few good men to be silent” and Arnab is EVIL for all the country’s television viewers…The fact that he shouts out such malicious lies about the industry proves that he might be actually as wrong in every other issue.”
Film on Arnab
Finally, concluding his rant with two tweets, RGV promises a film on the news reporter saying he would take the clothes off his facade. He says, “I for one am feeling very strongly about this and I decided to make a film on #ArnabGoswami in which I will take the clothes off his facade and make him naked exposing the lengths and breadths of all his vital corrupt stats.”
RGV then goes on to give his unreleased film a title “Arnab; The News Prostitute“.
