As Bollywood has slowly started to find its footing in the post-lockdown world, Action hero Ajay Devgn too, is all set to return to the sets of Bhuj: The Pride of India! In this upcoming war action film, he will be seen in a dual avatar; as the film’s leading man as well as action director!
Set during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, this ensemble drama has Ajay Devgn in the main role of Indian Air Force (IAF) squadron leader Vijay Karnik, who reconstructed the IAF airbase in Bhuj with the help of 300 local women.
Before the lockdown had started, Ajay had reportedly taken over as the action director in the filming schedule, since the South Stunt coordinator Peter Hein was unavailable.
He had choreographed two elaborate fight sequences featuring Sanjay Dutt and him.
According to a Mid-day report, a source close to the film revealed, “The sequences come at a crucial juncture in the narrative. In the first set-piece, Ajay is seen attempting hand-to-hand combat as he fights the spies sent by the Pakistani army. The other segment, an outdoor shoot, has Sanjay Dutt and Sharad Kelkar take on the baddies.”
“While Peter Hein has handled the remaining action scenes, he was not available in mid-March when these pieces were to be shot.”
In order to stay on schedule, since the producers had already booked the Powai studio and got the combined dates of the concerned actors, Devgn was requested to take charge.
“Anyone who has worked with the actor has noticed his expertise in mounting a high-octane fight scene, like father Veeru Devgn.” said the source.
The film’s spokesperson confirmed the news of Ajay designing some action sequences for the movie.
Including a two-day stint with the lead man Ajay Devgn, the film now has just a week’s worth of shooting left.
Apart from Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt, Bhuj: The Pride of India’s ensemble cast also includes Nora Fatehi, Sonakshi Sinha and Ammy Virk. It is written and directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya.
