Actor Vikrant Massey recently shocked fans by announcing his retirement from acting at the age of 37. While his decision is surprising, he’s not the only actor to retire at the peak of their career.
Here are seven other actors who also chose to step away from the limelight.
1- Vikrant Massey
Vikrant Massey announced he’s retiring from acting at 37. The actor delivered a sleeper hit with 12th Fail last year. He was last seen in The Sabarmati Report. The actor revealed this news on social media by saying, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realize its time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor.” He later clarified that, his note was misinterpreted and he is only taking a long break from acting and not retiring.
2- Imran Khan
Imran Khan, the nephew of actor Aamir Khan, made his debut with Abbas Tyrewala’s 2008 romantic comedy Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. After a successful start, he had a string of flops, before bouncing back with I Hate Luv Storys (2010) and Delhi Belly (2011). However, a longer string of flops followed, and he retired from acting in 2015 with Nikkhil Advani’s Katti Batti. Last year, a social media campaign demanded his return, post which he did some interviews, but hasn’t announced his comeback film yet.
3- Zaira Wasim
Zaira Wasim made her impressive debut in the 2016 blockbuster Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. She followed up with another successful film, Secret Superstar, also produced and starring Aamir Khan. However, in 2019, Zaira announced her retirement from acting, citing religious reasons. Her last film was The Sky Is Pink in 2019.
4- Asin
Asin Thottumkal, a prominent figure in South Indian cinema, made her Bollywood debut in 2008 with the film Ghajini, opposite Aamir Khan. She went on to star in several successful Hindi films, including Ready, Housefull 2, and Bol Bachchan. After her marriage to Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma in 2016, Asin retired from acting.
5- Ayesha Takia
Ayesha Takia made her Bollywood debut in 2004 with Tarzan: The Wonder Car. She went on to star in films like Dil Maange More, Socha Na Tha, and Dor. Her career gained significant momentum with the 2009 blockbuster Wanted, alongside Salman Khan. However, after her marriage to Farhan Azmi in 2009, she gradually reduced her film appearances.
