It’s been more than 2 years since Shah Rukh Khan has made a movie announcement.
Now, after a long hiatus, SRK is finally making a comeback with ‘Pathan’, co-starring Deepika Padukone & John Abraham.
After ‘Pathan’ & Atlee Kumar’s next, which has been tentatively titled ‘Jawaan’ allegedly, SRK will reportedly headline filmmaker Raj Kumar Hirani’s upcoming social drama.
If this Peeping Moon report is to be believed, SRK- Hirani’s movie will apparently deal with a broader immigration issue. As the report suggests, the yet-to-be-titled movie highlight the rampant use of the illegal backdoor route- donkey flight– a popular escape path for Indians to settle in countries like the US and Canada.
The film is said to depict the illegal entry of Indian Punjabis into Canada, and how the travel agencies set up complex traps to tempt young people seeking a better life abroad.
“Donkey flight is referred to as the illegal method of entering a foreign country via multiple stops in other countries. It’s a popular method adopted by thousands of youngsters every year after they fail to enter the target country via legitimate means. Hirani’s film deals with this wide subject in his trademark style with a narrative filled with emotional as well as light-hearted moments. It’s a story of a Punjabi guy and his arduous journey of immigration to Canada,” a source revealed to the portal.
What Is ‘Donkey Flight’?
“Donkey flight” – it’s a term based on a Punjabi idiom meaning to hop from place to place. Through ‘Donkey Flight’, Indian migrants obtain a tourist visa for a European Union Schengen-zone country in order to enter the United Kingdom & Canada through the back door.
This visa allows them to roam freely in Europe’s border-free zone, intending to leapfrog over into the UK and Canada.
The movie will reportedly go on floors in May 2022. As per reports, Taapsee Pannu is apparently the frontrunner to play the female lead in this film. However, there is no confirmation yet.
