Akshay Kumar has proven to be one of the most talented Bollywood actors for three decades now and has given several blockbusters.
However, as we all know, Akshay’s success didn’t come easy. The actor had to face several rejections while climbing the success ladder in Bollywood.
Akshay got his first break in 1981 with the movie ‘Sugandh’, but it was not an easy ride for the actor.
Akshay was also rejected for Aamir Khan’s 1992 film ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. The film had featured Aamir as the lead role alongside Pooja Bedi, Deepak Tijori, Ayesha Jhulka, and Mamik Singh.
However, Akshay was not auditioning for the lead role but to play the antagonist Shekhar Malhotra, which was later given to Deepak Tijori. Although, even before Deepak, the original choice for the role was Milind Sonam.
Deepak revealed to ET Times in a throwback interview, “Akshay Kumar and I went for the same audition and we were both rejected. So, I was not to be a part of ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’. 75 percent of the film was already complete when I joined them; Milind Soman had shot for the film, not me.”
The movie was directed by Mansoor Khan and was produced by Nasir Hussain.
