Shilpa Shetty’s businessman husband Raj Kundra is challenging his arrest in the alleged porn films scandal in High Court.
His bail plea was rejected and his custody has been extended till 27th July.
Shilpa Shetty Questioned:
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra were both jointly questioned in the case yesterday. In 2020, Shilpa Shetty had resigned from the director’s position at Viaan Industries – which is under scanner right now, along with ‘Kenrin’ company.
As per Midday report, Shilpa was asked if she was aware of this alleged porn video racket and ‘HotShots’ app. According to Mumbai Police sources, the actress had said that the content on Hotshots wasn’t PORN BUT EROTICA.
Shilpa denied being involved in the production of the alleged porn videos and also said her husband wasn’t producing them either. Raj had claimed that everything was handled by his brother-in-law, Pradeep Bakshi (Kenrin Owner), from UK.
An officer also told Midday – “Shilpa said that movies available on Hotshot are not pornography but erotica. She also said that nowadays, similar content is available on the various OTT platforms and in fact, some are more obscene than what is available on Hotshot.”
Why Police Are After Kundra But Not Netflix and Amazon – Says His Lawyer
Raj Kundra’s lawyer had argued in Court saying – “The videos don’t show the ‘actual act of coitus’ or ‘actual act of intercourse’, hence they can’t be considered pornographic. OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon have similar content. Shows like Sex life and Four Shots have similar content. I don’t understand why Mumbai police are going after Kundra but not after Netflix and Amazon.”
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police told the Court that they suspected that the money earned from these alleged porn videos was used for online betting. Raj’s ‘Yes Bank’ account and ‘Union Bank of Africa’ account are under scrutiny now.
121 Video Deal
On the other hand, as per latest NDTV report – Mumbai Police have stated that Raj’s Whatsapp Chats reveal that he was planning an international deal for 121 videos.
“In the WhatsApp chats, we have found that Raj Kundra was talking about a deal about selling 121 videos for USD 1.2 million. This deal seems to be on the international level,” Mumbai Police said.
