Rhea Chakraborty had filed an FIR against SSR’s sisters – Priyanka and Meetu as well as Dr Tarun Kumar.
Rhea had alleged charges of abetting suicide, cheating, forgery and fabrication of medical prescription and criminal conspiracy.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters had then countered this move with a petition to quash the FIR. As reported by HT – on Thursday, the Bombay High Court heard the sisters’ petition challenging Rhea.
In her complaint, Rhea had stated that Priyanka, Mitu and Dr Tarun Kumar had allegedly given Sushant drugs without a physical consultation. On the other hand, SSR family lawyer Vikas Singh argued that the medicines could have been prescribed to him by doctors through telemedicine as per the ICMR telemedicine guidelines.
Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde then retaliated saying that telemedicine could be prescribed only with prior consultation with the doctor.
“I pointed out to his household help that he was mixing narcotic substances with the medicines that he was taking. It was going to be a dangerous cocktail. I was aware that he was taking medications and I had an altercation with him on that, but I was not aware of the prescription.
When the prescription was leaked in social media, I realised it was on advice if his sisters. So I realised that it could be a cause of his suicide. I have said in my complaint, that these medicines were prescribed by a doctor who had never prescribed him before. They were prescribed without seeing him physically. Telemedicine can be prescribed only with prior consultation with the doctor,” Maneshinde said presenting Rhea Chakraborty’s statement.
“My complaint is in relation to a forged prescription of medicines. The circumstances that I am pointing out that should also be examined. His family is concerned with the cause of his death. They say I am responsible, I am giving different circumstances for investigation,” Maneshinde said on behalf of Rhea Chakraborty.
As per NDTV report, Senior counsel Devdutt Kamat who represented the Mumbai Police also emphasized that no online consultation was done in this case.
He said that the WhatsApp chat between Sushant and Priyanka from June 8, 2020, showed that Priyanka had procured the prescription without any consultation between the doctor and the patient.
“The police has evidence to show that an unidentified man went to the OPD of the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital on June 8, 2020, and took a token and later a prescription from the accused doctor Tarun Kumar,” Devdutt Kamat said.
After hearing all sides, the bench of judges observed: “Whatever is the case, from his face he [Sushant Singh Rajput] appeared very sober and very good human being and many people loved him because of his role in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.”
The court has reserved its order and asked all parties to submit written statements.
