After Kangana Ranaut vs BMC demolition drama, looks like another celebrity is in trouble with the civic body.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has filed a complaint against Sonu Sood with the Mumbai Police. Oh no!
As per TOI report, BMC has alleged that Sood converted the six-storey Shakti Sagar ‘residential building in Juhu’ into a ‘hotel’ without the necessary permissions.
Apart from the change of user from residential to hotel, the BMC’s complaint also stated that Sood had allegedly carried out unauthorised alterations/additions in the building.
But the Simmba actor has denied these allegations! In a statement to TOI, Sonu claimed that he did have the necessary permissions and was only awaiting approval from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), which was pending due to Covid-19.
“I have taken approval for change of user from the BMC. It was subject to the approval of the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority. This permission hasn’t come due to Covid-19. There are no irregularities.”
Sonu also pointed out how his hotel was used to accommodate Covid-19 frontline workers. He is currently appealing against BMC’s case in Bombay High Court.
“I always abide by the law. This hotel was used to house Covid-19 warriors during the pandemic. If permissions don’t come, I will restore it back to a residential structure. I am appealing against the BMC’s complaint in the Bombay HC,” he said.
Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP, Zone 9, said that the police were carrying out a preliminary investigation before registering an FIR.
