Kangana Ranaut’s tweet had misidentified farmer protester Dadi ‘Mahinder Kaur’ as Shaheen Bagh Dadi ‘Bilkis Bano’.
Along with multiple Punjabi stars, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh too slammed Ranaut’s tweet. She retaliated and a Twitter war ensued!
Sharing a proof video of the old lady, Diljit called out Kangana saying ‘One should not be this blind.’ This sparked off a heated debate, as the actress hit back with a snarky reply – calling Diljit ‘Karan Johar Ka Paltu’.
(Karan Johar’s pet, the grandma who was protesting in Shaheen Bagh for her citizenship, the same grandma was seen protesting with the farmers. I don’t even know who is Mahinder Kaur. What is this new drama?) Stop this right now,” she wrote in a tweet.
Diljit did not take it lying down and gave it right back – “(Are you the pet of all the people you have worked with? Then the list of your bosses must be long. This is not Bollywood but Punjab. Manipulating people by lying and playing with their emotions is something you know very well).”
Kangana responded – “(You are a bootlicker, the one you try to please, I take them to task everyday. I am Kangana Ranaut, not a bootlicker like you who would lie. I only spoke about the Shaheen Bagh protestor), if anyone can prove otherwise I will apologise.”
Diljit did not back down but blasted her, saying she had no manners. “You dont know how to talk about someone’s mother-sister. Being a woman, you are saying other women are for Rs 100. Our Punjabi moms are like god to us. You’ve put ur hand in a hornet’s nest. Google this Punjabi.”
He further wrote – “(You don’t have brains, you take jibes at our mothers, go and threaten somebody else on the name of Bollywood, we are born to show egoistic people their actual place. You have the habit of calling out everyone).”
Kangana replied that she understood Punjabi and took a potshot at Diljit- “Don’t you feel ashamed defending those who started riots in Delhi? How will you feel ashamed, we all know how KJO gives work.”
Diljit was unfazed by this and questioned her – “What direction is this conversation heading to? Is your mind okay? Don’t steer the conversation in circles, be straightforward about what you barked about our mothers. Come and talk to our mothers, on whom you commented, they will drive out all of that attitude from within you.”
Kangana then wrote back – “Oye dumbo, it’s the same thing. When no one lost their citizenship, Shaheen Bagh’s dadi protested on whose behalf? When MSP has not been removed, who sent the same dadi to farmers’ protest? Who prompts her when she speaks?”
Diljit felt the Kangana was taking the conversation in circles, so he again came back to the same point – “(Go away fool. We’re talking about the elderly woman whose photo you shared and said she protests for Rs 100 a day. Did you hear her answer or do I need to send it to you again? Your manipulations will work in Bollywood but not in Punjab.)”
When Diljit slammed her saying that it was not necessary that ‘she would be right all the time’, Kangana dragged on the discussion saying – “It doesn’t matter if you or I am right, but it’s necessary for the country to be right. You’re misleading the farmers. I’m fed up of these protests, riots and bloodshed. You all are involved in this, remember that.”
To this, Dosanjh had a hard-hitting reply – “Do they appear to you as one who will incite violence? Every word you say is like that, what do you want? They are like God for us Did nobody teach you any etiquette of speaking? Punjabis will teach you how to speak to those who are elder to you.”
