After commencing this year’s KBC (season 12) on the 29th of September, fans have been hooked on to the show as per usual.
However, KBC has now found itself swimming in a controversy over a question asked by Big B on Dr BR Ambedkar.
Amitabh Bachchan asked a question related to Manusmirti in the Karamveer episode where social activist Bezwada Wilson and actor Anoop Soni came as guests.
The question for Rs 6,40,000 was, On 25 December 1927, Dr. BR Ambedkar and his followers burned copies of which scripture? The options given were, a) Vishnu Purana, b) Bhagavad Gita, c) Rigdev, and d) Manusmriti.
Post the question being answered, Amitabh Bachchan had further elaborated saying, “In 1927, Dr BR Ambedkar condemned the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti to ideologically justify caste discrimination and untouchability and he also burned copies of it.“
As per a report, however, netizens did not take the question well and the show was being accused of running the “leftists propaganda”, while others blamed it for “hurting Hindu sentiments”.
Along with the controversy blowing up, an FIR was also lodged against the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) and its host Amitabh Bachchan in Lucknow.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took the liberty of sharing his perspective on the matter via Twitter where he stated, “KBC has been hijacked by Commies. Innocent kids, learn this is how cultural wars are win. It’s called coding.“
