Yesterday, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated to the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) that Rhea Chakraborty’s visit to the Cooper Hospital morgue where Sushant Singh Rajput’s body was kept had NOT been permitted.
An article by TOI reported that SHRC Acting Chairman’s M.A. Sayeed had issued notice to the BMC and Mumbai Police, seeking their explanation by August 31.
The Dean of R.N. Cooper Hospital, Pinakin Gujjar, came before the SHRC along with a civic Law Officer and submitted a letter in which it was mentioned that the BMC had not given any permission to the actress to enter the morgue.
However, Chairman’s M.A. Sayeed has ordered the BMC to file a detailed affidavit along with the names and versions of all persons concerned present at the time when Rhea is said to have gone to the mortuary. The SHRC also sent a reminder notice to the Mumbai Police on Monday seeking its response in the matter. The SHRC top officials took this decision after taking a look at social media videos and news reports of Rhea’s visit to the hospital morgue.
The SHRC’s legal wing studied the relevant provisions pertaining to this high-profile “visit” – as only the immediate family members of any deceased person can be permitted in the morgue.
Dean Pinakin Gujjar and the Mumbai Police have been asked by SHRC to explain the situation behind Rhea getting permission to access thr morgue hours after Sushant’s death. The sources said that since entry is not permitted in morgues to persons not related to the deceased, all those found involved in the matter could be liable for the relevant legal consequences.
