Holding the record for the most disliked trailer on YouTube with over 12 million dislikes, Sadak 2 has made a record but sadly not the ideal record you’d expect a movie to hold.
This Mahesh Bhatt directorial is peculiar and has a lot going on but is a one time watch for what it’s worth.

Story Line
Sporting the theme of suicide, mental illness and triumph over evil, Sadak 2 is an action romance that is heavily based on its prequel Sadak. Sanjay Dutt’s character, Ravi Verma, is shown as much older in this sequel and his role is that of a suicidal man longing to become a father and reunite with his dead wife. Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur (Aarya and Vishal) are travellers but with a dirty secret each.
The movie also addresses the issue of self-proclaimed ‘gods’ or as we more commonly refer to as ‘godmen’. The movie’s story talks about blind belief in these godmen that ended wrongly for many people and Alia Bhatt’s reel mother is one of them.
Picking up from where Sadak left off, this story is dramatic but unrealistic. Showcasing glimpses of Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt’s 1991 romance, Sadak 2 gets a very different story line as compared to the first part.
Acting
Out of everyone, the most commendable acting was that of Jisshu Sengupta who plays Alia’s father in the movie. His story starts on an innocent tangent which gets a remarkable twist towards the end.
Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur both portray themselves as each other’s love interests but of course, not every love story starts and ends on the same ‘sadak’.
Sanjay Dutt is the protective wannabe dad who gives up his life for the sake of his child’s protection. In the movie, he considers Alia to be like his own daughter and hence will do anything to keep her secure.
Makrand Deshpande’s character as a ‘dhongi baba’ was played impeccably as he plays his role with the same level of intensity as expected from a man-god. With big eyes and an attire that gives this movie that gothic dash, Deshpande certainly played this role justice.
Hit or Miss?
Maybe somewhere in between? The movie is a one time watch with the kind of action sequences and story it portrays. Unlike other Mahesh Bhatt films, we’d be okay with just a small glimpse of this movie.
