A biopic on freedom fighter Usha Mehta is allegedly in the making if the latest buzz is to be believed.
The veteran hero was famous for running an underground radio station – called Congress Radio, to amplify the Quit India movement.
Per previous reports, KJO’s Dharma Productions was preparing a script on the same. However, looks like another filmmaker is interested in this topic too.
Director Ketan Mehta (of Mangal Pandey: The Rising fame) is also planning a project on Usha Mehta, who incidentally, happens to be his aunt as well. A source told Midday – “Ketan has simultaneously begun pre-production, and aims to kick off the film by late 2021.
He has narrowed down his choices for the lead to Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar. Given the actors’ busy date diaries after the second lockdown, the casting will be locked by November.”
Taapsee and Bhumi had previously starred in Saand Ki Aankh which was based on the shooter Dadis- Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. Let’s see who gets locked in for the Usha Mehta biopic!
