Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, and Dia Mirza, together, created history by winning the title of Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Asia Pacific respectively, and had given India a triple victory in beauty pageant competitions.
Lara’s outstanding performance in the Miss Universe competition left the world amazed. Lara Dutta had created history by scoring the highest marks in the history of beauty pageant competitions. She had grabbed a score of 9.99 from almost all of her judges.
She had achieved the highest score in the swimsuit competition and her final interview score was the highest individual score in any category in the history of the Miss Universe contest.
Lara was the second Indian to have won the coveted title after Sushmita Sen, who won the pageant in 1994.
She was also appointed as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.
Lara has also won the title of Miss Intercontinental 1997. No Indian contestant has won the Miss Universe crown after Lara Dutta.
