Uh oh! Sonu Sood’s Juhu Hotel in trouble?
On January 4, BMC had filed a complaint in Juhu Police station against the actor.
The civic body had alleged that he converted the 6-storey Shakti Sagar ‘residential Juhu building’ into a ‘hotel’ without the necessary permissions.
On Monday, Bombay High Court heard Sood’s petition challenging 2 notices sent by BMC – one for the demolition of the additions and alterations made in Shakti Sagar Building and the other concerning unauthorised change of use of the building from residential to commercial.
Last year, after receiving the notice from the BMC in October, the actor had approached a civil court but failed to get interim relief following which he filed an appeal in the high court.
“The petitioner (Sood) has not made any changes in the building that warrant permission from the BMC. Only those changes that are allowed under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act have been done,” said Sonu Sood’s lawyer D.P Singh as per India Today.
India Today also quoted his lawyer saying that in 2018, Sood had made an application to the BMC for ‘change of user‘ which was still pending.
“They did not pass any order on that and the meantime sent us notices. As the application is still pending, they cannot take an action,” said Singh.
Bombay High Court has now granted interim protection to Sonu Sood and ordered a stay on any demolition action at Sood’s Juhu building till January 13.
