Legendary actor Rishi Kapoor passed away on 30th April this year, leaving the film fraternity feeling hollow.
Renowned director Sudhir Mishra, who had a film planned with the late actor, expressed his regret at leaving the project unfulfilled!
Back in 2012, Sudhir Mishra had announced his dream project, ‘Mehrunissa’ which was later revamped to ‘Pehle Aap Janab’. His plan was to team up Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor.
The plot of the movie revolved around two friends from Lucknow who fall in love with the same woman. Mishra had called the film an ode to friendship and Lucknow.
Unfortunately, Pehle Aap Janab did not take off in time and with Rishi Kapoor’s demise, Sudhir Mishra laments the missed opportunity!
“Till the end, Rishiji kept telling me, ‘Let’s make the movie’. That it didn’t get made is one of my biggest regrets. I have the script; Nikkhil Advani was to be the producer. Now, we will try and re-imagine the film,” Mishra told Midday.
Major rewriting is going to happen in the project – “I can’t imagine anyone in Rishi Kapoor’s place. So, now, the story has to be rewritten; the central idea may be partially retained,” the director added further.
From ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ to ‘102 Not Out’, Amitabh Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor made for really dhamakedaar co-stars. 102 Not Out was a wholesome, slice-of-life comedy-drama about a carefree 102-year-old man who lives with his grumpy 75-year-old son. Add it to your list if you haven’t already binged it!
