Last year in Jan, it was announced that Bollywood is making a remake of the Hollywood movie ‘The Intern’.
Deepika Padukone & late Rishi Kapoor were finalized to essay the lead roles in the remake.
The unfortunate demise of Rishi Kapoor came as a huge obstacle for the Bollywood adaptation of the comedy-drama. Now the makers are finally reviving the project.
Rishi Ji was supposed to play the role of the 70-year-old intern, played by Robert Di Nero, while Deepika will be seen essaying the role of Anne Hathway.
Now, as per the latest Bollywood Hungama report, Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly been roped in to play the late Rishi Kapoor’s role in the remake.
“The Hindi remake of The Intern hit a massive roadblock with the demise of the late Rishi Kapoor. This suddenly meant that the venture was missing a crucial member of the cast, and the makers had to re-analyze the casting. Though it has taken a while, the makers of The Intern remake have now locked Amitabh Bachchan for the project and are looking to resume the shoot soon,” a source revealed to the portal.
It also added, “Amitabh Bachchan has been cast to reprise the role that would have been played by the late Rishi Kapoor. Though it is unclear when the film will finally commence shooting, talks are on with the cast members to finalize dates.”
If the news is true, then it would be the second collaboration between Big B & Deepika after ‘Piku’.
As per a Koimoi report, ‘Badhai Ho’ fame Amit Sharma has reportedly come on board to direct the Hindi adaptation.
This movie is a collaboration between Hollywood‘s Warner Bros. & Sunir Kheterpal‘s Athena Entertainment.
