Saif Ali Khan May Lose Pataudi’s 15,000 Crore Property In Bhopal?
These properties include landmarks like Kohefiza’s Flag House, Ahmedabad Palace, Noor-e-Saba, and others.
The issue stems from the Enemy Property Act, 1968, which allows the government to claim properties owned by individuals who migrated to Pakistan after Partition in 1947. The dispute dates back to 2015 when the Enemy Property Custodian Office declared lands belonging to the Nawab of Bhopal as government property. The Pataudi family, including Saif Ali Khan, his mother Sharmila Tagore, sisters Soha and Saba Ali Khan, and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s sister, Sabiha Sultan, challenged this in court.

Saif Ali Khan May Lose Pataudi’s 15,000 Crore Property; What’s The Case?
The case centers on the family’s lineage. Nawab Hamidullah Khan, the last Nawab of Bhopal, had three daughters. His eldest, Abida Sultan, migrated to Pakistan in 1950, while the second, Sajida Sultan, stayed in India and married Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, Saif’s grandfather. Sajida was recognized as the legal heir to the properties in 2019, and her grandson Saif inherited a share. However, the government claims the properties as enemy property due to Abida’s migration.
On December 13, 2024, the Madhya Pradesh High Court lifted a stay on the properties and directed the Pataudi family to present their case to the appellate authority within 30 days. As of January 21, 2025, it remains unclear whether the family has complied. The Bhopal district administration has stated that further action will depend on the High Court’s final orders.
