Late legendary actor Raj Kapoor’s ancestral home is located in the heart of the northern Pakistani city Peshawar.
Back in 2016, the haveli was declared a national heritage by the provincial government.
Raj Kapoor’s ancestral home, known as the Kapoor Haveli, is situated in Peshawar’s famous Qissa Khwani Bazaar. Reportedly, the mansion is now in a very dilapidated condition and its current owners want to demolish the structure and construct a commercial plaza in view of its prime location.
According to TOI, the Peshawar High Court has saved the Mera Naam Joker actor’s haveli from demolition.
All such moves were stopped as the archaeology department wanted to preserve the mansion, keeping in view its historic importance.
The petitioner, Saeed Muhammad, claimed that his father had owned the bid for the mansion in 1969 and continued to be the sole owner of the property until the provincial government initiated an acquisiton process.

The Kapoor Haveli was built between 1918 and 1922 by the legendary actor’s grandfather Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor. Raj Kapoor and his uncle Trilok Kapoor were born here.
