Noted filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, who passed away today at the age 67, was the man behind several celebrated Bollywood film over the decades.

According to a report, the filmmaker was said to be on dialysis and his potassium levels dropped drastically.
Pradeep Sarkar had directed only a handful of movies. Before making his foray into Bollywood, he was known as one of the most prolific ad-film makers of India. Let’s take a look at his movies & web series –
- Movies:
1) Parineeta
In 2005, Pradeep Sarkar made his debut as a movie director with Parineeta. Starring Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt among others, Parineeta is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s 1914 Bengali novella of the same name.
He had also won the National Film Award in the ‘Best Debut Director’ category for this film.
2) Laaga Chunari Mein Daag
Pradeep Sarkar turned director once again in 2009 for Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, starring Rani Mukerji, Konkona Sen Sharma, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Kunaal Kapoor and Anupam Kher.
3) Lafangey Parindey
In 2010, Sarkar directed Lafangey Parindey with Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead.
4) Mardaani
Pradeep also helmed the critically-acclaimed 2014 Hindi film Mardaani. The movie starred Rani Mukerji, Tahir Raj Bhasin and others.
5) Helicopter Eela
Helicopter Eela (2018), starring Kajol and Riddhi Sen in the lead, was the last movie directed by Pradeep Sarkar. The film revolved around the relationship of a single mother and her son.
- Web Series:
1) Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala
After directing several movies, Pradeep Sarkar forayed into OTT with the Zee5 show, Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala. Starring Divyanka Tripathi and Rajeev Khandelwal, the rom-com series was released in 2019.
2) Forbidden Love
He also went on to direct the ‘Arranged Marriage’ story from the Zee5 anthology, Forbidden Love. The short story starred Patralekhaa, Ali Fazal and Omkaar Kapoor.
3) Duranga
Pradeep Sarkar’s last directorial happened to be the Zee5 series Duranga, starring Drashti Dhami and Gulshan Devaiah. He had directed the first two episodes of the show.
