Varun Dhawan-Janhvi Kapoor have reportedly teamed up for Nitesh Tiwari‘s (Chhichhore fame) upcoming directorial.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the yet-to-be-titled rom-com is said to be based on a quirky topic.
If this Peeping Moon report is to be believed, the plot of the Varun Dhawan-starrer supposedly revolves around the theme of ‘trophy wife syndrome’. Yes, you heard this right.
What Is Trophy Wife Syndrome?
A trophy wife is a wife who is regarded as a status symbol for the husband. The term is often used in a derogatory or disparaging way, implying that the wife in question has little personal merit besides her physical attractiveness and requires substantial expense for maintaining her appearance.
A trophy wife is often regarded as unintelligent or unsophisticate who does very little of substance beyond remaining attractive.
Coming back to the Nitesh Tiwari directorial, a source informed the portal –
“Nitesh Tiwari’s film is a story of a small-town boy, played by Varun Dhawan, who marries the city’s most beautiful girl (essayed by Janhvi Kapoor), thinking that having her as a wife will increase his social standing among peers. However, things turn upside down when something unthinkable happens in the couple’s life. In today’s time, a wedding has become more of a beauty-status exchange, and marrying a girl who’s more attractive than himself acts as a symbol of the person’s social position. Tiwari’s film is a romantic-comedy that deals with this societal topic in an entertaining way.”
The movie is expected to go on floors aorund April 10 in Lucknow. Reportedly, the team will then shoot in Kanpur.
On the work front, Varun has a stream of interesting projects like Bhediya, Ekkis, Rajkumar Hirani’s next, Citadel series Indian spin-off lined up ahead of him. Janhvi will next be seen in Good Luck Jerry – the Hindi remake of the 2018 Tamil film ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’.
