Ajay Devgn-Ileana D’Cruz starrer movie ‘Raid’ was one of the best films of 2018.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the movie was based on the real-life income-tax raid on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s.
Now, we hear that the Ajay Devgn starrer is getting a sequel. On Tuesday (December 29), producer Kumar Mangat Pathak reportedly announced the sequel to his 2018 film at a panel discussion of the first edition of the Kashi Film Festival in Varanasi.
Pathak also revealed that the follow-up story will be based on the real-life story of multiple raids conducted by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) at the houses and factory of the infamous perfume trader Piyush Jain in Kanpur and Kannauj.
For the unversed, the raid had led to the recovery of Rs 257 crores, 25 kg of gold and 250 kg of silver and properties worth 1000 crore and more. Piyush Jain was later arrested and the Finance Ministry had even termed it as the “biggest ever seizure of cash” by an enforcement agency.
On the work front, Ajay will next be seen in SS Rajamouli’s film ‘RRR‘. He also has an interesting lineup of movies like ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘Thank God’, ‘Runway 34’, ‘Maidaan’ & more.
