The Netflix series ‘Money Heist’ (Lacasa De Papel) has taken the entire globe by storm.
Now, the latest buzz is that a desi version of this Spanish heist crime-drama is in the making. Yes, you heard this right!
If this Pinkvilla report is to be believed, filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan’s upcoming project titled ‘Three Monkeys’ is allegedly based on the Netflix series ‘Money Heist’.
As the report suggests, Abbas-Mustan have apparently given the project a desi twist and are making it in the format of a feature film. Reportedly, ‘Three Monkeys’ is scheduled to go on floors on November 11 in Mumbai and is expected to be released in the second half of 2022.
A source informed the portal- “The Abbas Mustan duo is getting back to the thriller space with Three Monkeys and is currently all geared up to commence shooting from November 11. The script work is done and the current concentration is on to create a massive set in the city.”
“It’s actually on the lines of Money Heist with the premise revolving around three male protagonists and a professor, who is a mastermind of the robbery. Like all other quintessential Abbas Mustan films, this one too will have hidden motives with every character trying to outplay the other,” they added.
“It’s not exactly a scene-by-scene remake, but more of a film inspired by the vibe and set up of this iconic series,” the source concluded.
The cast details have supposedly been kept under wraps as of now. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
