It’s been a year since the legendary choreographer Saroj Khan had passed away due to cardiac arrest.
Last year on this day, the 3-time National Award winner breathed her last at the age of 71.
Today, on her first death anniversary, T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar announced a biopic on India’s first-ever female choreographer.
On Tuesday, Bhushan announced on Twitter that he’s already acquired the rights to the story of Saroj Khan’s life from her family.

As per News18, talking about the project, Bhushan said, “Saroj ji’s journey that started as early as a 3-year-old was met with a lot of ups and downs and the success and respect she gained from the industry has to be brought to life. I remember visiting film sets with my father and seeing her bring life to the songs with her choreography. Her dedication towards the art was commendable. I am glad Sukaina & Raju agreed to let us make this biopic of her mother,” he added.
During her over 4-decade-long career, Saroj Khan had choreographed more than 3,500 songs, including- Hawa Hawai (Mr. India), Ek Do Teen (Tezaab), Tamma Tamma Loge (Thanedaar), Dhak Dhak Karne Laga (Beta), Dola Re Dola (Devdas), Ye Ishq Haaye (Jab We Met), to name a few.
