A.R Rahman has walked out of a stage during the launch of his home banner ‘99 songs‘ when the host of the event spoke in Hindi.
Now, Mika Singh recalls how he embarrassed himself while trying to speak in English, in front of A.R Rahman.
On Indian Pro Premier League Mika spoke about an award function where he made a blunder in front of A.R Rahman while speaking in English. However, this song got Mika the hit song from Tamasha ‘Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai‘.
Speaking of the incident, Mika says “My biggest weak point is my language, I am not someone who can speak fluent English but at an award function I tried to speak in English, and I messed up. What I wanted to say was ‘I would love to work with Rahman Sir’, but I ended up saying ‘Rahman Sir would love to work with me‘. It was an awkward and embarrassing moment for me, but I guess Rahman Sir understood me, and hence, he gave me the song ‘Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai’ and together we created a chart-breaking version of an emotional song.”
On the other hand, while talking about the stage walkout, Rahman told Bollywood Hungama, “What happened is, we are doing a three language launch. Hindi is already launched and we are coming to Tamil Nadu. So there are certain kinds of protocol on the stage. We are talking to Tamil audiences who are already saying that Ehan Bhat is very fair. So I told her (the anchor) to speak in Tamil and follow the protocol.”
“I think she wanted to be kind to Ehan and he understands Hindi better and so she talked in Hindi. So I said, ‘Hindi?’ and I had to leave the stage. After that other people had to come on stage. So people put this one and one-two and that I got angry. It was a joke. It was not meant to be serious. I think it saved us a lot of money by becoming viral, spreading Ehan’s and my face,” A.R Rahman added.
