Sporting a cool beanie and rugged good looks, music composer Amaal Mallik had a candid and exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood.
Having composed the music for the Parineeti Chopra starrer Saina Nehwal biopic, he is basking in the success of Saina’s songs – Parinda and Main Hoon Na Tere Saath.
From revealing that he left 17-18 films in favour of composing music for Saina to Dua Lipa collab, Amaal had some pretty exciting deets to dish out!
“My parents felt that I took up Saina but left about 17-18 films for just this one. They personally felt it wasn’t a very good move. They believed it was a good time to keep doing more maybe, but I was in a space where I wanted to do a lot of original music. And the trend was to do was a lot of remixes,” Amaal said.

Elaborating on the offers he was getting – “They were big films, but there was nothing for me, as a musician, to grow from there.”
Amaal feels happy with his original music and is of the opinion that he shouldn’t do all the films and remixes just for the sake of ‘being around’ in the industry.
“No project is big or small. ” He added further.
Dua Lipa Collab Is…..?
Opening up about his Dua Lipa collab, he revealed – “It’s an official remix of her song ‘Levitating’. I’m really excited about the collab; it’s a gift to all her Indian fans. It’s got a Hindi verse by Sukriti and Prakriti Kakkar. The Hindi lyrics are penned by Kunal Vermaa. It’s me coming back to doing a little bit of dance music – a lot of my younger fans miss that side of mine.”
Saina has been directed by Amole Gupte, and will be hitting the theatres on 26th March.
