The much-awaited Oscars Awards 2021 is finally here.
The 93rd Academy Awards is scheduled to take place on April 25 this year.
Today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced shortlists in nine categories for the 93rd Academy Awards.
The Malayalam movie ‘Jallikattu’, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, was India’s official entry in the category of Best International Feature Film.
But, unfortunately, the movie is out of the Oscars race as the Malayalam-language movie failed to make it to the International Feature Film shortlist.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Indian filmmaker Karishma Dev Dube’s ‘Bittu’ has been shortlisted in the top 10 list in the Short Film in Live Action category for the 93rd Academy Awards.
Presented by Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, Guneet Monga, and Ekta Kapoor under their ‘Indian Women Rising’ initiative, the official synopsis of ‘Bittu’ reads, “Based on a true story, Bittu is a short film about a close friendship between two girls, eclipsed by an accident.”
Earlier, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Madhuri Dixit, Ayushmann Khurrana, Dia Mirza, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sonali Bendre, amongst others, had given a shout-out to the film on social media.
The second round of voting begins on March 5, which would decide the top 5 films across the globe, making it to the final nominations to be announced on March 15.
