‘Tandav’ Controversy: The Amazon Prime Video Web Series In Legal Trouble!

Tandav regarding the Amazon Prime Video Web Series ‘Tandav’ is in no mood to stop.

The Saif Ali Khan starrer political drama has landed into controversies for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.

After being summoned by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, director Ali Abbas Zafar has apologized publicly and posted a statement on Instagram.

Soon after, the scenes that caused problems were deleted from the nine-part series.

As reported by Bollywood Hungama, while the BJP is taking action against the makers of the show, Maharashtra Government declared on Wednesday that they will take action as per the law. And they also support censorship of OTT platforms.

“We have received a complaint regarding the web series ‘Tandav’. Action will be taken as per law. The Maharashtra government supports censorship of OTT platforms. This keeps happening time and again. So, the Centre needs to come up with a law,” Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh stated.

Now, as per the latest Bollywood Hungama reports, a four-member team from Hazratganj, Uttar Pradesh, has reached Mumbai on Jan 19. Headed by Inspector Anil Kumar Singh, the team first went to Andheri Police Station, and then they went to visit the DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) office to seek assistance.

Yesterday, as per their plan, the team supposedly recorded statements from the people mentioned in the FIR, which includes Aparna Purohit, an official of Amazon Prime Video, Ali Abbas Zafar (director & co-producer), Himanshu Krishna Mehra, the producer, Gaurav Solanki, the writer among others.

The FIR was filed by the senior Sub-Inspector Amarnath Yadav at the Hazratganj police station.

Meanwhile, a three weeks’ transit anticipatory bail has been granted to Ali Abbas Zafar, Gaurav Solanki, Himanshu Mehra, and Aparna Purohit by the Bombay High Court’s Justice PD Nail. The order supposedly enables the said people to apply for pre-arrest bail before the court.
