Storyline
Tribhanga – Tedhi Medhi Crazy revolves around the lives of three women, each with struggles of their own. Anuradha (Kajol) shows deep hatred for her mother Nayantara (Tanvi Azmi) and tries to be every bit of the parent she longed for towards her daughter Masha (Mithila Palkar). As said in the movie, Anuradha expresses her fear and talks about having felt unsafe within the confinements of her own home. She credits that to her mother, who at a very early age had filed for divorce from Anu’s father to pursue her passion.
However, there are two sides to a coin and this is proven when Nayantara remembers the same days as Anu, only very differently. Anu then ends up being a successful performer and brings up her daughter Masha, who says, “My mother is a tigress when it comes to me.”
Each of these three women, although generations apart, show the audience the struggle of their lives which isn’t easy in either case. From domestic abuse to career problems to familial rejection, the story gives you an insight into the lives lead by the three.
What Do We Think?
The story portrays beautiful relationships between mothers and daughters. While one is heavily strained, the other is as loving as can get. While Kajol portrays the strong and fierce daughter who’d do anything to save herself and her loved ones, Masha is the kind and soft daughter who expresses as much love as she can.
As for the role of mothers, Tanvi demonstrates the self-made independent mother who from the very beginning followed her dreams and fought for equality. Kajol on the other hand put the well being of her daughter first before focussing on herself or her surroundings.
The three have done a commendable job when it comes to acting. The movie is also Renuka Shahane’s first Hindi directorial and she’s done a stellar job.
Hit or Miss?
Although we wouldn’t watch the movie time and time again, a second rewatch wouldn’t be too bad. Hence, we say it’s a pretty good film that calls for appreciation.
