Earlier, Kangana Ranaut had created a controversy by misidentifying an elderly farmer protestor.
She had alleged that Mahinder Kaur was the same as Shaheen Bagh Dadi ‘Bilkis Bano’.
(Bilkis Bano had featured prominently in the anti-CAA protests at Shaheeh Bagh in 2019)
Kangana had also insinuated that the old woman was available for hire at ‘100 rupees’ for the ongoing protests against the farm bills. This had attracted the ire of netizens and Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, who had blasted her in a heated duel on Twitter for the disrespect.
Now, Kangana has landed herself in legal trouble as the 73-year-old Protestor Dadi Mahinder Kaur herself has filed a case against the actor in a district court in Bathinda.
As reported by News18, the complaint has been filed under IPC sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation). The elderly farmer’s complaint further alleged that Kangana had lowered her reputation and prestige with her false and scandalous tweet.
Mahinder Kaur complained that she was suffering from grave mental tension, agony, harassment, humiliation, loss of reputation and defamation in the eyes of her family members, relatives, neighbours, co-villagers and general public at large.
Ms Kaur, who is a resident of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda, has stated that Kangana is yet to even issue an unconditional apology for her remarks!
Ms Kaur’s counsel Raghbir Singh said that the court has fixed January 11 as the date for hearing the complaint.
