Ae Mere Dil, sung by Abhay Jodhpurkar and composed by Jeet Ganguly was released on the 19th of October and it has already crossed 6 million views on YouTube.
Instant Bollywood spoke with Jeet and got interesting scoops from his experience on creating this song.
Talking about his composition he says, “The thing is, when we make songs, if someone asks me about all my compositions and which one is my favourite, I’d say that music and the tune of the song can’t be favourited. Songs are like our own children. I can’t choose between one or who my favourite is. When the songs are made, I believe that there is a concept of connection between me and my songs. Until I connect to a song, I can’t make it.”
“When VYRL music called me, they asked me for a song that has passion and that is romantic but also sad and deep. When one’s heart is hurt, only then they can remove their truest feelings. Be it an artist, a singer, a composer, a journalist, everyone needs to experience hurt once because that hurt makes a person. Ye dukh ek aadmi ko banata hai. Creations only happen with the deepest pain. We love with our heart and when our heart is hurt, we feel more deeply.”
Jeet also spoke about lyricist Manoj Muntashir who did an above excellent job. “When we spoke about who would write the lyrics of this song, I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect than Manoj Muntashir since he had a lot of knowledge on poetry and he was our perfect choice as a lyricist. He is amazing. I sent him the tune and to that, he wrote such lovely lyrics. A song shouldn’t be thought much about, it needs to touch your heart.”
As for the singer, Abhay Jodhpurkar, Jeet thinks he was the perfect choice. “Abhay was our perfect choice to sing this song. He had sung the Tamil version of my song ‘Muskurane Ki Wajah Tum Ho’. After listening to Abhay singing, I felt he was apt for that song. He has that passion which we needed for this song. His voice has a different texture and his style of singing is different too. He will do great work going forward.”
“I believe those who have a clean soul are the best artists. Abhay has a clean soul. His voice and Manoj’s poetry came together very well.”
Jeet also spoke about independent music and why we need to make more of those. “Independent music is very important and it needs to grow. VYRL music has done a good job in promoting individual music. They are very serious, professional and disciplined. The problem with making music for films is that after you compose the song, the filmmakers get the song in hand and take it. No one asks the music director or the music composer his thoughts on the song or his reviews. Which is very important. It is important to understand the feeling and thoughts of the music director because that might come handy while making the film. No one asks the music director what he thought while making the song.“
Apart from Jazz what other music do you like?
I am so fortunate to have accompanied other artists from various genres, pop, classical, and more. This is the biggest blessing that I have been able to be associated with all kinds of music, even if it’s ghazal, bhajan, pop, jazz, everything. Being a composer, you should be familiar with everything. If you ask me to make any sort of music, I will try and do it.
Music Is An Art
Music is an art that never changes. Even if the generation changes, music from all the years will be loved. Songs like ‘Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna’, ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi’ will never get old although they were made years ago. Music is an ageless art.
