On Saturday, ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’ actress Payal Ghosh had accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct.
As per ANI report, Ghosh’s lawyer said that she will be lodging an FIR against Anurag in Oshiwara Police station.
Taking note of Ghosh’s allegations, National Commission for Women chairperson Rekha Sharma had also sought a detailed complaint from her, assuring that they will look into it.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap has also released official statement denying all allegations. Shared by his lawyer Priyanka Khimani, it states that all the allegations levied against him are completely false and malicious and that he will pursue the matter through legal means.
‘My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest. It is sad that a social movement as important as the #metoo movement has been co-opted by vested interests and reduced to a mere tool for character assassination. Fictitious allegations of this nature seriously undermine the movement and seek to unconscionably trade upon the pain and trauma of actual victims of sexual harassment and abuse. My client has been advised about his rights and remedies in law and intends to pursue them to the fullest extent – Priyanka Khimani’
Earlier, Anurag had also taken to Twitter to term the allegations ‘baseless’ in a series of tweets.
“All your allegations are baseless. Whether it’s my first wife or second, or a girlfriend, or all those actresses who worked with me, or all those female colleagues who have been working with me, I don’t indulge in such behaviour in public or otherwise. Neither do I tolerate such behaviour. Rest, whatever happens… let’s see.”
He alsomentioned how this was only the beginning of attacks on him.
Afterwards, many celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Radhika Apte, Surveen Chawla, Hansal Mehta, Gulshan Devaiah, Anubhav Sinha, Sayani Gupta even Kashyap’s first wife came forward to support him.
However, Kangana Ranaut supported Payal Ghosh.
