After Lata ji, Bollywood has lost another great singer in 2022.
Bappi Lahiri passed away at age 69. As per reports, the cause of death has been revealed to be obstructive sleep apnea.
The singer, who revolutionised disco music in Bollywood, breathed his last on 15 February 2022 night at 11:45 pm. He had been admitted to Criticare Hospital in Juhu.
“He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight,” Dr Deepak Namjoshi said.
What Is Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
It is the complete/partial obstruction of the upper airway leading to reduced or absent breathing during sleep!

Bappi Lahiri is survived by wife Chitrani Lahiri and his daughter and singer Rema Lahiri Bansal and son Bappa Lahiri. Born on 27 November 1952, his real name was Alokesh Lahiri. The music composer was popular for his trademark gold chains and sunglasses.

“In Hollywood, Elvis Presley used to wear gold chains. I was a huge follower of Presley. I used to think, if I become successful someday, then I will build a different image of mine. By the grace of God, I could do it with gold. Earlier people used to think, it is just a way to show off. But it is not so. Gold is lucky for me,” Bappi had told the media.
May the singer rest in peace! Bappi Lahiri’s last rites to be performed tomorrow (Thursday) as the family is awaiting elder son Bappa’s arrival from USA.
