Akshay Kumar– the Khiladi of Bollywood- is all set to reunite with filmmaker Anand L. Rai for the 3rd time.
On the special occasion of Dussehra (October 15), Akshay announced his new film, titled- ‘GORKHA’.
Produced by Anand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma, the movie will be helmed by the National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
In the biopic, Akshay essays the role of the legendary war hero Major General Ian Cardozo– the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army, who headed a battalion and a brigade besides being disabled.
The legendary officer of the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army (5th Gorkha Rifles) fought in the wars of 1962, 1965, and most notably in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.
Talking to the media, Major General Ian Cardozo AVSM SM said, “I feel honored for this story to be told on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war. It commemorates the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces of India. I look forward to working with Anand & Akshay as they bring this to life. This story reflects the values and spirit of every officer of the Indian Army.”
On the work front, Akshay will next be seen in ‘Sooryavanshi’, which is releasing in cinemas on November 5. Besides that, he also has a handful of interesting projects lined up, including ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, and more.
