Deepika Padukone and mental health awareness have always gone hand in hand. If you’re a fan of the actress, you must know of her struggle with depression and the fact that she has always been vocal about it.
Deepika has always urged the audience to talk about mental health and not pent it up inside. In recent Instagram posts, the actress has demonstrated what depression looks like and how one must talk about it. People close to the victim have to be gentle and supportive in a manner that provides a safe space.
Embarking on a #DobaraPoocho mission, Deepika had posted a video of various scenarios where people talk about their mental state with close family and friends.
“Now more than ever we need to be sensitive and support the emotional needs of those around us…#DobaraPoocho #MentalHealthMatters“
The actress has also won the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum for her contribution towards spreading awareness of the cause.
Deepika also posted a video of herself in conversation with Dr Shyam Bhat and Dr Soumitra Pathare on “Understanding suicide: Why people do what they do”.
“While I embarked on this journey more than 5 years ago, recent tragic events have made us all realise that now more than ever, we need to prioritise mental health and intensify our focus on #SuicidePrevention.
Thank you Shyam Bhat and Dr Soumitra Pathare for talking to me and addressing some unanswered questions on Suicide & Why People Do What They Do.”
