2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic have struck a mighty blow to the film industry but Bollywood appears to be finding its muse even in suffering.
After a hiatus of 3 years, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has finally announced his next directorial which is said to be inspired by true events of the pandemic.
On Wednesday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh broke the news – that Bhandarkar will be helming the upcoming movie ‘India Lockdown’. The title is rather self-explanatory and looks like the film will be tackling the issues faced by the country during the nation-wide lockdown induced by the Covid-19 crisis.
The casting process is still underway and the film will officially go on floors next year in January. India Lockdown is being produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and PJ Motion Pictures.
Bhandarkar’s last directorial stint was the 2017 political film ‘Indu Sarkar’, based on the period between 1975 to 1977, when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across the country. The film starred Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari, Anupam Kher, and Tota Roy Chowdhury.
