The Bollywood drug nexus is under NCB radar and amidst all this, a 2019 video of a party hosted by and at filmmaker Karan Johar‘s has resurfaced.
The party was attended by major celebs like Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, etc.
The same year, following the party’s occurrence, politician Manjinder Singh Sirsa had alleged that drugs were consumed there by the people who had attended it. Karan Johar had clarified then that nothing of the sort had taken place. Now, after the recent drug link in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, Karan Johar has yet again become a target for several media channels who have alleged that he too is somehow connected to the drug ruckus.
However, Johar has had enough as he issued a firm statement on his social media hours ago wherein he clearly states that he DOES NOT CONSUME NARCOTICS. Slamming all the channels, he says that every allegation against him is ‘distasteful and false’.
He starts off by saying, “Certain news channels, print/electronic media, social media platforms are wrongly and misleadingly reporting that narcotics were consumed at a part that I, Karan Johar hosted on July 28, 2019 at my residence. I had already clarified my position way back in 2019 that the allegations were false.”
“I WOULD LIKE TO UNEQUIVOCALLY ONCE AGAIN STATE THAT I DO NOT CONSUME NARCOTICS AND I DO NOT PROMOTE OR ENCOURAGE CONSUMPTION OF ANY SUCH SUBSTANCE. I wish to further state that Mr Anubhav Chopra is not an employee at Dharma Productions. He was briefly associated with us for only two months in the capacity of 2nd assistant director for a film, between November 2011 and January 2012 and as assistant director for the short film in January 2013. He has thereafter never been associated with Dharma Productions for any project,” the statement read.
KJo also spoke on the position of Dharma’s executive director, Mr Kshitij Ravi Prasad, he wrote, “Mr Kshitij Ravi Prasad joined Dharmatic Entertainment in November 2019 as one of the executive producers on contract basis for a project which eventually did not materialise.”
