Student of the Year introduced some big stars like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and SOTY 2, brought Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria and SOTY 3 will bring Alaya F and Shanaya Kapoor.
Now, a third installment is in the works, with producer Karan Johar confirming that this time it will be a web series under his digital content wing, Dharmatic Entertainment.
While the official cast announcement is still pending, recent rumors hint that Alaya F and Shanaya Kapoor are being considered for the lead roles.
SOTY 3 is set to be directed by international filmmaker Reema Maya, who is also the co-founder of the production company Catnip. Karan Johar officially announced her involvement in the Student of the Year franchise at the Cinevesture International Film Festival in Chandigarh last April. Speaking to TOI, Johar said, “Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student of the Year. It will be her vision, not mine, because if I step into her world, I’ll make it more of an illusion—true to her name. I wanted it to reflect her unique voice, and she has truly made it her own series.”
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Shanaya Kapoor, who was initially set to debut with Dharma’s Bedhadak, has been cast as the leading lady in SOTY 3. Additionally, recent reports suggest that Alaya F will join the cast as the second female lead in this teenage drama.
Shanaya Kapoor, who was initially set to debut with Bedhadak before the project was shelved, also faced setbacks with her South debut Vrushabha. However, the newcomer is now expected to make her debut alongside Vikrant Massey in Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan. Meanwhile, Alaya F had a notable year with two major releases: the action drama Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, where she played a hacker, and Srikanth, in which she portrayed Veera Swathi, the wife of Srikanth Bolla.
