Yudhra Movie Review; Siddhant Chaturvedi Excels As Action Hero But It’s Style Over Substance

Storyline:
As a result of trauma while in mother’s womb, Yudhra (Siddhant Chaturvedi) grows up to be a hot-headed character with raging anger issues.
After his parents pass away in a tragic accident, Yudhra is brought up by his parent’s colleague Kartik Rathod (Gajraj Rao). But it is under the careful guidance of Rahman (Ram Kapoor) that Yudhra’s anger is channelled into something productive.
Sent undercover into a drug cartel headed by Firoz (Raj Arjun) and his menacing son Shafiq (Raghav Juyal), Yudhra’s life turns topsy turvy when a deal goes bad. His lady love – Nikhat (Malavika Mohanan) gets caught in the crossfire.

Yudhra Movie Review:
Yudhra’s strength as a movie lies in the slick, thrilling stylised action sequences and the charismatic screen presence of the lead cast. However, the plot is quite routine and gets predictable very quickly. Yudhra is a case of style over substance.
Siddhant Chaturvedi excels as an action hero – he’s in top form physically and performs the action with conviction. However, he falters a little in the moments that require more emotional intensity. Nevertheless, the young star does have a promising screen presence. The initial interest in Yudhra’s character is not sustained as his arc feels underexplored.

Yudhra Movie Review:
Malavika Mohanan looks superb but is wasted in the 1st half. She gets some peak action moments herself in the latter half to make up for it. She’s competent in her role. However, the romance is superficial and lacklustre in spite of having two good-looking people like Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan with excellent potential for chemistry. The soundtrack is pretty generic as well.
Raghav Juyal, who was absolutely chilling in Kill, is underutilised here and reduced to a caricaturish villain in Yudhra. Nevertheless, he is interesting to watch on the screen and brings a quirky manic energy to the role. Hopefully, he won’t get type casted in antagonist roles.
Gajraj Rao, Raj Arjun and Ram Kapoor appear in limited capacity but elevate the film with their seasoned performances.
Yudhra would have worked better if it was more emotionally compelling, but the drama feels tad bit hollow. The climax is bit of an overkill as well.
For fans of relentless action, Yudhra is the film to catch in theatres near you!
