The Goodbye actress took to Instagram to share her hurt and disappointment at the deepfake AI going viral. She also spoke about the dangers of being on the receiving end of such misuse of technology.
For the unversed, a morphed video of Rashmika showing off heavy cleavage and entering a lift went viral. But the woman in the deepfake video is actually Zara Patel, a British-Indian girl with 415K followers on Instagram.

Even Amitabh Bachchan took to his social media and said that such misuse was grounds for a legal case. “Yes, this is a strong case for legal” – the Bollywood legend wrote.

After the controversial video went viral, Rashmika took to her Instagram stories and penned a lengthy note about the misuse of deepfake AI videos –
“I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused. Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.”
On the work front, Rashmika Mandanna will be seen opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Animal. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga film is releasing in the theatres on 1st December 2023.
