Kangana Ranaut plays the titular role of Tejas – a daring Indian Air Force pilot. The bold, ambitious Tejas is somewhat of a rulebreaker in matters of life and death – she acts first and thinks later.

The film follows Tejas’ journey from the Air Force academy – stubborn, fierce and determined to excel at what she does. While romance blooms in the form of a dashing singer (played by Varun Mitra), terrorism strikes and makes the battle personal for her.

Tejas is a Kangana Ranaut film through-and-through. But unfortunately, it soars uncertainly and makes a clumsy landing.

The 1st half, intended to showcase Tejas’ perseverance and be emotionally rousing, ends up feeling one-dimensional and superficial. The love story isn’t integrated well, and the pacing is odd… feels like they’re just rushing past the checkpoints. The soundtrack is generic and appears to just slow down the narrative.

The VFX is disappointing too. But that being said, the action-packed climax is the saving grace of the film. Some scenes do require a total suspension of disbelief and seem ludicrous, but it is still better than the hodge-podge 1st half. Tejas is patriotic but doesn’t surrender itself to over-the-top jingoism though.

Tejas Movie Review:

Kangana Ranaut is in top form as an IAF pilot. The usually stellar actress could have benefited from a more subtle performance this time. She’s a tad bit too dramatic in her earnestness than is needed for the role.

Hit Or Miss:

A very oddly-paced film but could be a one-time watch for the action!
