Mahabharata by Vivek Agnihotri in the making, titled Parva An Epic Tale Of Dharma!
The Kashmir Files director is making Mahabharata in 3 parts for the big screen! Vivek Agnihotri will be adapting the best-selling novel Parva – written by Padma Bhushan Dr SL Bhyrappa.
Mahabharata by Vivek Agnihotri, A Trilogy?
Based on Mahabharata, the film – titled Parva: An Epic Tale Of Dharma will be made in three parts. Directed and written by Vivek Agnihotri, the film will be produced by his wife Pallavi Joshi. Prakash Belawadi is the co-writer.
Taking to his social media account on X, he wrote – “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Is Mahabharat HISTORY or MYTHOLOGY?We, at @i_ambuddha are grateful to the almighty to be presenting Padma Bhushan Dr. SL Bhyrappa’s ‘modern classic’: PARVA – AN EPIC TALE OF DHARMA. There is a reason why PARVA is called ‘Masterpiece of masterpieces’.”

In the video that accompanies the announcement, he commented – “It’s said that Mahabharat is the source of all stories. Is it just a mythology or India’s consciousness? The question remains – is it history or mythology? After researching for 17 years, Padma Bhushan winning SL Bhyrappa wrote a modern classic, Parva. It’s called a masterpiece of masterpieces. The book has been translated in many languages.
We are proud and happy that he has given us the responsibility to bring the story to the big screen. Parva: An epic tale of dharma will be out in three parts and the production work has begun.”
His Last Was – The Vaccine War
Vivek Agnihotri’s last directorial venture was The Vaccine War starring Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen and more. At the 69th National Film Awards, he received the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration category for The Kashmir Files.
After receiving the honour, he had posted on Instagram – “Award to #TheKashmirFiles is a tribute to all the victims of religious terrorism. Specially, in today’s context it shows what happens when humanity is absent.”
